Goondiwindi Internet Exchange
The Goondiwindi Regional Council has called for tenders to improve the Digital Connectivity in the region. The State Government has put up $300,000 to this purpose and the Council expects the successful tenderer to match that with an equal amount of their own funds. This tender was recently won by the Field Services Group whom will now design and install a network to reach all residents, businesses and farms who are looking for a reliable superfast Internet connection with unlimited data.
The area to be covered is very large. Lots of microwave towers and/or fibre optic cables will be needed to achieve the goal. A wonderful and worthwhile project, for we all need the Internet connectivity to do business and enable trade.
If the success of the Goondiwindi based "Country Broadband Networks" is anything to go by, then as a local who is looking for a good Internet connection it is probably wise to become friends with them with a view to entice them to hook up the rest of the Goondiwindi region with the same enthusiasm and professionalism.
Or, if you think you know it better, then put up your own proposal. But believe us, you would do best to support your local Internet club in any way you can. Don't just sit there. Drop of a bottle of wine at their premises with the best wishes for those new round of tenders. If enough locals support their "Country Broadband Networks" you might get something good and useful out of it.
